For Your Eyes Only: If it rains cats and dogs on your wedding day

I know. Rain on your wedding day isn’t a welcome guest.

One of my May brides was “blessed” with an extremely rainy day. She came back from doing photos shivering with cold. It wasn’t supposed to be raining AND 12 °C outside. Surely not!

But, if it rains there really is nothing much that you can do about it. So why not try to make the most out of it? And maybe even prevent it and have some fun, too?

Because there really is a lot that you can do if it rains, especially if we are speaking about photos and special effects. Take a look at the following images – there is one more lovely than the other.

I really do enjoy the sight of rain boots – must say that this polka-dotted, hot pink solution is pretty close to being fabulous!

More formal photos? Play around with white and black in the photo. This one is very well balanced, even if more classic.

A couple, or a lonely bride, some trees, an umbrella and a little fog – that makes a stunning atmosphere and an incredible backdrop. A part from the fact that your photos become the one-of-a-kind type…

There’s nothing you can do about the rain on your wedding day. All you can do is try to make the best of it having fun while it lasts.

A helping hand from your guests – and from the sky above. Rainy weather offers some of the most amazing backdrops that you could ever dream of.

And if your photographers know their stuff, they are able to create images that are absolutely unique. This one is so breathtaking that I’d almost prefer to have rainy weddings the whole year…!

As regarding reflections, you can play around with whatever idea you have and get truly gorgeous images. (You just have to wait until the rain ceases, if not your images risk getting blurred.)

I love this image of the bride jumping into the mud. And I’m quite sure that we are not speaking of a “Trash the Dress”-session here… What a fabulous gesture of pure joy!

There’s something dreamy and eternal to this setting. What a clever composition made by the photographer!

As you can see, there are many different ways to get along with bad and unexpected weather. If you try to stand up against it, you will probably loose and be unsatisfied by your wedding photos. But if you play along, allowing yourselves to make the most out of it, you can get really, REALLY great memories from your one-of-a-kind day.

With this last photo I want to wish you all a relaxing and loving weekend. Don’t fight it, let go and see where it will take you. The worst thing that can happen is…

– that you get awfully wet! 🙂 But let it pour – who cares!
